    Description

      Tested on: 0.4.9-dev-39-gd287d14 BootCD

      Explanation:

On first boot the OS asks to install the driver for "Other ACPI device". With a CD inserted containing uncompressed drivers for this model, selecting to automatically install the drivers, the CD runs then stops and the OS reports it is searching for the driver. This lasts forever, the mouse moves, but the system does not react on attempts to start software or to shut down. CD drive is locked: it does not open. The installation can be cancelled, but behavior is the same as before. Ctrl-Alt-Del, Shut down shows the shutting down window, but it does not finish. Switching off and on again restarts the above described behavior with a different device: "ACPI Power Resource". Switching off an on again and not inserting the CD does not lock the OS the described way.

On a fresh installation the automatic driver installation without the driver CD inserted runs through as expected.

The drivers on the CD are sp57617, sp59259, sp60317 and sp60775 downloaded from support.hp.com for the HP 8470p.

      Expected behavior:

If no suitable drivers are found finish the driver installation unsuccessfully.
