S2Engine HD 1.4.5 Beta Editor doesn't start

I attribute this program not starting to the fact that it's very intense on resources and probably wouldn't work even on an XP VM. I have the Guest Additions installed with 3D support so that isn't the issue. Launching the editor makes a black window pop up for a second and it disappears shortly after, thus not launching. There's no direct download available (AFAIK). I looked in the log myself and saw these parts in particular which may be of interest:

(sdk/lib/rtl/actctx.c:2335) asmv2hash (undocumented) not supported

and it mentions S2Core many times:

(dll/ntdll/ldr/ldrutils.c:1373) Overlapping DLL: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\S2Engine_1_4_5_BETA_Setup\1_4_5\Bin\S2Core.dll
