Menu Bar translation special characters display incorrectly

When translating the word "File" into Afrikaans ("Lêer"), the character "ê" displays as a box / unrecognized character in the Menu Bar.

Edit: I tried switching the theme to Lautus, and the error is still there, see attached screenshot.
