DOS application Storymaker plus (VGA) freezes at mouse callbacks

In NTVDM session with program Storymaker plus (VGA edition), in graphics editor, if drawing with a tool that does callback activity (line, rectangle, circle), program stops working (logged). It's possible to draw one dot sized shape with those tools (as callback doesn't run when mouse isn't moved). Sometimes, it may suddenly display black screen (logged). It's technically a sound-enabled program, sound setting was turned off while testing.
