Freeze and Eventual BSOD Accessing NTFS Volume on a SCSI Disk

    Description

      My platform is as follows:

      Gateway E-4200 ACPI Compliant PC

      Pentium 3 450MHz

      Intel 82371AB/EB ATA controller

      Nvidia TNT2 Model 64 32MB

      D-Link DFE-530TX+ Ethernet Card

      Adaptec AHA-2940U2 SCSI non-raid controller.

       

      Problem Description:

      When attempting to access a SCSI hard disk with a single NTFS Partition, created by a Windows 2000 Advanced Server Installation, the computer hangs. Seen through a serial console, the system has dropped to its debugger and appears frozen. Continuing execution twice triggers a BSOD. Only once was i able to run the system and get a BSOD without running the cont command at the debugger. Its output is identical to the one pictured, with the exception of the datestamp. The drive in question is assigned SCSI ID 0.

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Install ReactOS
      2. Install drivers for your Adaptec AHA-2940U2 SCSI controller, found here: http://download.adaptec.com/scsi/windows/w2k_v100b_pci_drvs.exe
      3. Reboot the computer and attempt to open your SCSI drive with NTFS Partition
      4. Observe freeze and / or BSOD.

      I don't know if the problem is exclusive to SCSI drives.

      I don't know if the problem is exclusive to NTFS partitions created under windows 2000.

      No other testing was done.
