Rocks and Diamonds 4.1.0.0 crashes upon startup

Rocks and Diamonds 4.1.0.0 from rapps

The game crashes immediately upon startup.
I took l2l backtraces, we see two first-chance-exceptions,
the first one is expected and handled ok (sse_check) but the second one is unhandled and crashes the application. Unfortunately all addresses are within games executable.

AC97 driver was installed here which might play a role in the crash.

The application "Rocks and Diamonds" was upgraded 2018-06-13 in rapps.
In my last test I could start the older version "Rocks'n'Diamonds 3.3.1.2" successfully on ros 0.4.8RC25, also with AC97 installed.

We should check two things:
-Whether AC97 is needed to see this crash
-Whether the older version of the game would still work on current ros build with AC97

I immediately have CORE-14784 in my mind when writing this.
