Google Chrome 40.0.2214.115 can not update itself via its about tab

0.4.11-RC-22-g2522ec1 gcc dbg lin is affected.
The issue is nothing new, I noted it already in 0.4.8/0.4.9/0.4.10 release tests.

tested on VBox 4.3.12 without additions
I started the browser with cmdline "--no-sandbox"

Expected result
When you open the about tab, the browser should try to update itself.

Observed result
It does not try to update.
