Installing Lotus SS9 from CD onto btrfs installation fails

I was attempting to install Lotus SS9 from CD onto a btrfs based installation.

The installation fails with two dialog boxes:

Lotus Install

Error initializing the copylist: 10

OK

After hitting OK, I get

Lotus Install

INITCOPYLIT: You need to have a suit section with SUITTOP in INF file.

OK

Installation ends with no further dialog boxes after that. This installation succeeds when using a FAT filesystem instead.
