Gimp 2.6.12 has strange green drawing glitches following the mouse pointer

Tested on VBox4.3.12 without guest additions, VBEMP was in use, the ros-internal mesa (not the mesa from rapps)

Reproduction steps

• install Gimp 2.6.12 from rapps
• open a file, in my video I show a png with transparency (but it happens also for jpg without transparency)
• move the mouse pointer randomly above the displayed image

Expected result
no green drawing glitches should follow the mouse pointer

Observed result
ugly green drawing glitches do follow the mouse pointer
