Operating System: ReactOS
Platform: x86 Hardware
Description
steps to reproduce:
1. get 32-bit x86 hardware (try it on 64-bit could work there too). [I have a 20GB hard disk and 256MB RAM]
2. install ubuntu using ext2 filesystem. partition out 3GB or 153 out of 1024 cylinders (if 20GB) for swap space. or, use partitining software to create an ext2 filesystem and, hopefully, see if you can get some files on it.
3. install reactos using defaults, except, delete the ext2 filesystem using the setup menu and select to install on the unpartitioned space. install the boot loader. eject the cd and reboot as instructed.
at this point, grub attempts to load but gives error 17.
then it locks up.
This was with 41445-rel. I cannot provide debug output.
At least it recognizes the partition.
workaround:
1. after the ubuntu install, get out a disk-wiping utility such as mine and zero the disk.

2. install reactos.
then reactos install will be successful.
I am not sure, but there may be a problem with having the lilo bootloader on the disk, or it may be the signatures left behind by linux. Maybe setup is not cleaning something up.
