postgresql 8.4.1-1 fails to install

postgresql 8.4.1-1

The install process opens a small window at the top left of the desktop advertising postgresql, then closes it, next the following error appears in a window:
The exception U(0x80000100) occurred in the application at location 0x7c70204f.

The Log file (see attachment):
When the above happened, I rebooted the computer into log file mode, then set the postgresql install programme running again, then when the error occurred
I rebooted into default mode to look at and move the log file.
Notes for when you read the log file:
I have a network card on this computer for which I have not installed the driver for.
Drive D: is a dvd which is used to read the cd that contains the postgresql installation programme.
