Java and Python die soon after the first installation window has received input

Revision 56480 in real hardware (amd processor with nvidia chipset with 512Mb ram, 20Gb hard drive).

I have in the past been able to install both Java and Python, but in the resent revisions they have failed to install. They just die soon after input into the first or second install window.
