The Sims 2 demo will not start

    Description

      The demo version of The Sims 2 will install perfectly, but when trying to run it, it will give an error.

      Direct3D returned an error: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL!

      The application will now terminate...

      This was tested in VirtualBox, and the weird part is if I don't install the guest additions, it will give a different error: Failed to initialize Direct3D.
