Super DX-Ball 1.1 from rapps plays absolutely no sound or music in ros, but does in XPSP3

VBox4.3.12, AC97 from rapps

Install "Super DX-Ball 1.1" from rapps

Expected result
it should play music in the main menu and clicking the buttons should make a sound
I double-checked both in WinXPSP3 using the same virtualization

Observed result
on ros it palys neither sound nor music
0.4.12-RC-53-g9286a1f_SuperDX_noSound.log

although the sound was working within the same ros session before and after operating the game (I verified using audio cpl and playing the ros-LogOn-Sound)

The game never gave sound for me in any rls-test since ros 0.4.1, so this is nothing new.
