The Nvidia Slowdown Bug

    Description

      Nvidia drivers used to render correctly the wglgears demo on Real Hardware, at least until the 79.11 beta. However, after 80.40 beta (to be precised even more) the driver refuses to load hardware-accelerated OpenGL ICD and uses the ForceSW (internal) which makes rendering the slowest turtle you can think about.

      simonelombardo and Zombiedeth have investigated it and have told that it's an ICD bug or seems so. I haven't touched it a lot. But as of now we can emulate GeForce3 on Bochs and it's reproducible there, so one can debug it without real hardware.

      Link to functional Bochs 3.0-devel for windows (TO BE UPDATED LATER, maybe in 3.x or 3.0.x we will have this improvement).

      Later I will attach videos and debug logs if needed.

      It's blocked in GCC by CORE-19023.
