Clicking the bottom-left corner should open the start menu

Clicking at the bottom-left corner of the screen should open the start menu, but it doesn't.
Even though there are aesthetic reasons not to have the start button look as if it's touching the bottom left corner, from a usability perspective the entire bottom left corner area should be the start button's ‘click box’.
